FREDERICTON (GNB) – With the close of nominations today, byelections will be held on Monday, May 6, for the following local governments:

·         District of Carleton North (councillor for Ward 4)

·         Grand Lake (councillor for Ward 2)

·         Île-de-Lamèque (councillor for Ward 3, councillor for Ward 5)

·         Lakeland Ridges (mayor)

Candidates were elected by acclamation in:

·         Arcadia (councillor for Ward 3)

·         Nackawic-Millville (councillor for Ward 5)

·         Lakeland Ridges (councillor for Ward 4)

With no candidates offering, vacancies remain in the local governments of Campobello Island (councillor for Ward 2), Lakeland Ridges (one councillor for Ward 4), and Tracy (councillor-at-large). Those vacancies will be included in the next round of byelections expected to be held in December 2024.

The list of candidates running in each municipality is available on Elections New Brunswick’s website. Candidates have until 5 p.m. on Monday, April 15, to withdraw their name.

One day of advance voting is scheduled for Saturday, April 27, and election day is Monday, May 6. Polls will be open both days from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.
