FREDERICTON (GNB) – Advance voting for the Nov. 28 local government and rural district advisory committee elections takes place this Saturday, Nov. 19, and on Monday, Nov. 21. Polls will be open on both days from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.

“Any eligible voter who wishes to cast their vote in advance of election day can do so at these advance polls,” said Kim Poffenroth, chief electoral officer. “By voting early, New Brunswickers are helping to reduce the risk of lineups on election day.”

New Brunswickers are encouraged to bring their voter information cards with them when they go to the polls. Each card has a unique bar code which will help workers quickly find the voter's name and process them more quickly.

People not on the voters list can still vote but will be required to show identification to be added to the list before being allowed to vote.

Voters also have the option of voting by special ballot, which is available at the 17 returning offices around the province, six days a week, up to and including Election Day.

“These voting options provide greater flexibility for people to choose the opportunity to vote that is most convenient for them,” said Poffenroth.

Information on the locations of advance and regular polling stations is shown on each  voter information card and on the Elections NB website, or can be obtained by calling 1-888-858-VOTE (8683).
